Women's fashion is constantly changing. While in one's teens it is fun to change your style with the trends, but as one gets older, you will start to have your own style that will probably change very little. This isn't a bad thing! With maturity comes the understanding of what looks good on you, and one tends to lose the desire to change one's appearance ten times a week! Creating a capsule wardrobe is MUCH EASIER once you have reached this stage of your life! I am 24 and I pretty much know what looks good on me and what trends to avoid (no matter HOW good they look on Kate Moss!) So in creating a capsule wardrobe, I would immediately know what types of pieces to include for me and my body and style.
What exactly is a capsule wardrobe? A capsule wardrobe is a set of clothing, footwear and accessories that satisfy the style needs in one area of your life. One might have a capsule for work, which would include work trousers, a button up shirt, modest heels, conservative jewelry, and a large handbag or briefcase. On the other hand a wardrobe capsule for going out on the town would probably not include those thngs, but rather a little black dress, some strappy, high-heeled sandals, some bright, funky jewelry, and a clutch to hold just the essentials. The key to careting an essential capsule wardrobe is to assess your needs. What are the necessities? And what accessories will be needed to really make the outfit "pop?" A capsule wardrobe is the best way to save time in the morning before work or after getting out of the shower to go out. Everything has alreayd been planned, you just have to rock it.
Whether you were aware of it or not, you have probably created your own capsule wardrobe. In other words, on a cold, December night, you probably wouldn't put a little black dress into your capsule wardrobe. Unless, of course, you plan on finishing it off with some wool tights, boots, and a thick wool jacket! See how it works? Not hard to do! Also, for instance, if it's the rainy season and you must be on foot, you wouldn't throw sandals in your capsule wardrobe, but rather some wellies to keep your feet dry and protected! Also, a mum on the go sure wouldn't pack a nice evening gown in her capsule, but would probably stick to kid resistant clotehs (or at least ones that you don't care so much if they get dirty!) It is pretty fun to put together a capsule, especially for special events, such as weddings, parties, graduations, and whatnot.
